How to Install Android Studio (Complete Tutorial 2020)

- Android Studio Setup
- Install the Android Studio SDK
Below we will explain these two main steps in full :
1. Setup Android Studio
Following are the first steps on how to Install Android Studio:
1.1. Download Android Studio
Before doing the installation, the first thing to do is download the Android Studio file. Open the link here to download the file then click
Download Android Studio.
1.2. Install Android Studio
After finishing downloading the Android Studio file, open the file and follow the installation instructions below:
First, a page will appear as shown below. Click Next to continue with the installation process.
1.3. Select Additional Components
Then select additional components to install Android Studio. AVD (Android Virtual Device) This function is to configure devices that run with the Android emulator. Adjust the selected additional components as shown below. If you already click Next to continue the installation
1.4. Determine the Installation Location
Next, choose a location to install Android Studio on your computer. In this tutorial we install on location C: \ Program Files \ Android \ Android Studio. After determining the location of the installation of Android Studio, click Next to continue
1.5. Specify the Android Studio Application Name
Actually you are free to change the name of the Android Studio application that will be displayed on the Start Menu. However, for convenience when searching for this application, you should use the name of Android Studio only. Click Install to continue the process.
1.6. Begin the Installation Process

2. Install the Android Studio SDK
SDK is a set of software tools and programs used by developers to create applications for certain platforms.
Before installing the Android Studio SDK, make sure your device is connected to the internet. Because there will be a download process for the Android Studio SDK components. The following is an Android Studio SDK install guide.
2.1. Install the Android Studio SDK
Previously, you have successfully installed Android Studio. Open the application and follow the SDK installation instructions below:
2.2. Choose Installation Type
Next, choose the type of installation. You will be given two choices, namely:
Standard: For standard options, you will get default settings and additional installs from Android Studio.
Custom: For custom choices, you can choose the settings and additional components that you need.
In this tutorial we will choose Custom so that unwanted additional applications are not installed. Click Next to continue with the installation.
2.3. Select Android Studio Display
Then, select a theme to display on the Android Studio dashboard. There are two choices on the Android Studio theme, namely:
- Darcula: Dark (Black) Theme
- Light: Light-themed color (White)
In this tutorial we chose the Darcula theme. Then click Next to continue.
2.4. Select the Additional SDK Components
This step for selecting SDK components will only appear if you choose the Custom installation type. If you choose the Standard installation type, you will not get a choice of SDK components because all components are selected by default from Android Studio.
Adjust the selected additional components as shown below. Then click Next to continue the installation.
2.5. Define RAM for the Emulator
Next, specify RAM. We recommend using at least 4GB of RAM so as not to slow down the Emulator running process when running an application that you have created. Click Next to continue with the installation.
2.6. Review Installation Settings
Then, you will be given information about the additional SDK components along with the file size. Click Finish to begin the process of downloading the components.
2.7. Download and install the Android Studio SDK
After the SDK component download process starts, you only need to wait for it to finish downloading.
The process of downloading and installing SDK component files is quite long because of the large file size. Therefore, make sure your internet connection is stable so that no errors occur during the installation process.
